Welcome to the Polk County Chapter of the Executive Women's Golf Association.
The Polk County chapter was one of the first to be formed in the U.S. In 1991, a guy told one of our founding members that "women don't belong on the golf course." That was the beginning of the chapter, and we have grown since then! Our chapter meets regularly to play golf and network. (see Golf Schedule)
Our TEE OFF was held on March 5th at Lake Region Yacht and Country Club. The TEE Off was both a 'fund raising' for our Scholarship Fund and a 'friend raising' for our membership drive. The event committee members were Jo Duncan, Peggy Cook, Kathy Kampman, Jan Shimer, Carolyn Schmidt and Kathy Mannahan. When you signed-in at the registration table, Jo Duncan and Peggy Cook told you all about the day's events including the 50/50 raffle and the Silent Auction. Jan Shimer ran the putting contest which resulted in a 'putt off' before new member Paula McGhee was declared the winner. Kathy organized the chipping contest. Mary Ann Fink was crowned 'chipping queen' when she chipped her ball into the hole.
We played a 9-hole scramble which finished in time to get your bids in for the Silent Auction. Kathy Manahan and Shirley Schmidt did an outstanding job collecting donations and organization the Silent Auction. After the auction, Shirley stated we had earned enough money for one $500 scholarship. Our Chapter President Kay Bushell welcomed new members and guests, discussed the history of our chapter and read a thank you card for the Chapter's donation in memory of Anita Whitesell to KNOM radio station in Alaska. See you at our next golf outing on March 19th at Lake Region.
